Michael TestagrossaEducation, Event PlanningJMT Eventology

Michael’s background includes 30+ years of experience in the hospitality industry including fine-dining restaurants, hotel and offsite catering, banquet operations, convention services, university dining, and catering sales. In addition to his practical experience in the industry, he has been involved in hospitality education and certification. For the past twenty years in Las Vegas, he has worked in a variety of catering and convention services capacities at venues including Caesars Palace, JW Marriott, and Hilton Lake Las Vegas. Michael’s most recent role was in Catering & Convention Services Manager at Caesars Palace, overseeing groups of up to 4000 guests with tradeshows, conventions, and associations. While working at Caesars Palace, he also coordinated the intern program and was involved in the Code Green Committee. In 2008, he began teaching at the International School of Hospitality in the Wedding Coordination and Design Course, and helped redevelop the course curriculum and online course. He is also one of the lead instructors for the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Course, which he also redeveloped in 2020. He has been a guest lecturer for TISOH in Hotel Operations, Catering, Leadership, and Conference and Meeting Event Planning. In 2011 he and his business partner launched JMT Eventology, a Las Vegas based Wedding and Event Coordination and Design Company, with a design focus for events. As part of his business he has also been involved as a speaker for various industry events on topics such as Vendor Relations, Menu Planning, and Networking. In 2020, he launched a partnership with a focus in diversity and inclusion for organizations including the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. His involvement in the Las Vegas Hospitality Industry is marked by becoming an active member in many local professional organizations supporting he hospitality industry including local wedding organizations, ILEA, NACE, Wish Upon a Wedding, and the Las Vegas Hospitality Association. He served on many Board of Directors including the position of President of the Las Vegas Chapter of NACE. As an extension of his commitment to the industry he has also served on the national Education and Certification Committees for NACE, along with being a Certification Instructor and contributor to the CPCE Workbook for the Event Design Chapter. Additionally, he is the editor of the WIPA certification workbook for the new CWIP certification for the wedding industry. For his dedication to the industry he has been nominated for and awarded numerous industry recognitions. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Manager from Kansas State University while working in at Derby Dining Center as a manager, serving 1200 students daily and overseeing student employment and special events. During his tenure working in Dining Services at Kansas State University, he produced award-winning events with a focus on menu planning, theme development, event design, and service coordination. He also assisted in teaching the service styles and the final project for the Food Production Course, as well as serving on diversity panels for university classes.
