The essential pre-event meeting is the time and place to get everyone on the same page. "No one cares till, they know how much you care about them." Communicate to event staff - so no one is wearing a NETMA (Noone Ever Tells Me Anything) Badge.
Following a checklist, a review of all the points for consideration; assignments, one sheet, security, special requests and needs, menu - meals, getting uniforms looking good, location of amenities (Where are the restrooms and valet?) and the occasional Plan "B" for weather issues or the need to evacuate. Plus, talking points on inspiring staff to move beyond Cat Herding 101. Customize the checklist for specific venues and all your events.
