Restaurants, cafés, hotels, colleges, offices, venues and events are throwing out thousands of tons of nutritious excess consumable food every year. According to The Wedding Report and RecyclingWorks, in 2016 there were 44,579 weddings in Massachusetts alone, averaging 120 guests per event with 1 pound per meal wasted (that’s 5,349,480 pounds of food—nearly 2,675 tons—just in 2016!). Join Dana Siles, the New England coordinator for Rescuing Leftover Cuisine and David Lombardo, General Manager of Lombardo's, to discuss how to eliminate wasted food from your events by partnering with Rescuing Leftover Cuisine and other organizations which transport post-event food to local Human Service Agencies who freely serve those in need.
Lombardo's has been a proud partner of RLC since the inception of their MA branch in 2017.
Dana and David will discuss the Federal and State Laws, Federal Tax Incentives and Logistics for food donation from the perspectives of the organization and the food donor. Bring your questions and ideas for all food waste problems and solutions. Together, we can all work toward a less wasteful future.
