Joanne PurnellVP Chef de CuisineGood Gracious Events!

Joanne was born and raised in England where she learned the art of hospitality and formed a love of cooking from a very young age. At Thornbury Castle in Gloucestershire where staff lived and worked and her mum ran the elegant restaurant she used to enjoy breakfast and lunch in the kitchen among the professional stoves and ovens. It was here that Joanne’s love affair with cooking and respect for food began. In many ways, Joanne grew up in a kitchen, which is why she feels so much at home in one.

After graduating from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco, Joanne staged in several restaurants back in the UK before returning to Los Angeles where she headed up the kitchen at Parry’s on Pico, at the time, a forerunner to many of the neighborhood gastro-cafes that we now take for granted. Ahead of its time, the café closed and Joanne moved on to GOOD GRACIOUS where she worked her way up to Chef de Cuisine.

Over the last twenty years she has not only been active in several national and international professional organizations, but has garnered multiple culinary awards; the most prestigious being the first female chef honored as “Chef of the Year” by the International Caterers Association. She has also received star ratings from California Wedding Day, Inside Weddings and California Wedding Day and is a frequent speaker at industry conventions and seminars including CaterSource and the Art of Catering Food. As one of America’s leading catering chefs her experience is synonymous with culinary innovation, superior food and entrepreneurial spirit.

Throughout her years of tireless work and leadership Joanne has been instrumental in taking culinary deliciousness to new heights for corporate clients ranging from Rolls Royce, BMW, Disney, Sony, Fandango and Sunset Magazine to a discerning and affluent private clientele who inevitably become repeat clients. In this, the 30th anniversary year of GOOD GRACIOUS!, Joanne continues to exemplify the company’s commitment to quality, dedication to excellence and of course, passion for hospitality.
